Implementation Grant Application
Overview
Through the Inflation Reduction Act, $4.6 Billion in implementation grants were available to eligible entities that seek to deploy greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction strategies developed in a Priority Climate Action Plan (PCAP) that also aims to deliver at least 40% of overall benefits to Low-Income and Disadvantaged Communities. On April 1, 2024, NDEP, in partnership with seven other public entities, applied to the US EPA requesting $99 Million to implement high-impact and near-term measures that reduce GHG and criteria pollutant emissions across the State of Nevada. Although Nevada’s application was ultimately not selected to receive funding, the effort has helped build relationships and foster collaboration.
The application proposed nineteen projects that aim to reduce emissions from the three most critical focus areas identified in the Nevada PCAP: Transportation, Energy Systems, and Buildings. Proposed projects combined multiple PCAP measures to support the transition of Nevada's fleets to zero emission vehicles, building energy efficiency and improvement, new solar-powered renewable energy production, and bike- and pedestrian- friendly travel options.
