Illegal Dumping
Don't tolerate illegal dumping. Disposing of grass clippings, shrubs, and household goods on public or private lands is ILLEGAL. Violators may be subject to a $1,000 fine and/or six months in jail. Deserts and canyons are not the place to dispose of yard waste, household goods and other debris. Landfills and transfer stations accept bulky items.
The Washoe County Health District, Southern Nevada Health District, U.S. Forest Service, Sheriff's Department, and Bureau of Land Management conduct routine surveillances to apprehend any illegal dumpers. In Northern Nevada, to report an illegal dumping in progress or an illegal dump site location, call the following public safety dispatch number: 329-DUMP (1-775-329-3867) or download the Washoe County Sheriff Office's illegal dumping app. To report illegal dumping in Clark County you can call (702) 759-0600 or use the online Solid Waste/Illegal Dumping Complaint Form found on the SNHD website.
