Christmas Tree 2023 Recycling Information

Christmas Tree 2023 Recycling Information:

Recycle your Christmas tree this holiday season and deliver your community a gift that keeps on giving! The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection’s Recycling Program is encouraging Nevadans to take advantage of free Christmas tree recycling opportunities available across the state as a simple, eco-friendly alternative to dumping trees in the landfill. Recycled Christmas trees serve a second life by being turned into mulch and then used in beautification projects across the state.

Waste Management will provide curbside Christmas tree collection for Carson City residents from December 26 to January 19 at no additional cost. Trees must be free of decorations, nails, stands or flocking. Trees must be cut into sections less than six feet long for collection on your regular service day. Trees may also be dropped off in marked locations at 5560 Sheep Drive and Airport Road between Butti Way & East 5th.

CHURCHILL (Fernley):

The City of Fernley will accept natural Christmas trees for free recycling at the Out of Town Park Rodeo Grounds from December 26 to January 12. Trees can be dropped off in the sectioned-off area, Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm. Trees must be free of any decorations, nails, stands, or flocking.

Join the Springs Preserve and the Christmas Tree Recycling Committee in giving our community a gift: Recycle your tree. Each year from December 26 to January 15 you can take your cut Christmas trees to one of more than 30 convenient drop sites throughout the valley, to be recycled free of charge.

If you are unable to deliver your tree to a drop site, a local company called Move It will do it for you for a $25 fee.

Curbside collection will be available January 8 to January 12 on your regular collection day. Remove ALL decorations and nails, no flocked trees, and less than 6 feet lengths.

Waste Management will provide curbside Christmas tree collection for Lyon County residents from December 26 until January 15 at no additional cost. Trees must be free of decorations, nails, and stands. Please place them curbside on your regular service day. To ensure collection, cut your trees into pieces no longer than three feet, and ensure they do not obstruct the carts.

NYE (Pahrump):

The Christmas Tree Recycling Program will run from December 25 to January 15 at the University of Nevada Extension office in Pahrump at 1651 E. Calvada Blvd., inside the wooden gate and behind the Little Free Library. There will be a hand-painted blue sign. All decorations, including tinsel, must be removed, and artificial trees will not be accepted.

WASHOE (Incline Village):

IVGID Holiday Tree Chipping Drop-Off Program will take place from December 22 to January 29 at 958 Lakeshore Blvd. in the overflow parking lot.

Free curbside tree collection through Waste Management is set for January 8 to January 12. Trees must be cut into 3-foot lengths and free of decorations, nails, and stands. Placing trees curbside at any other time will result in fines.

WASHOE (Reno/Sparks):

Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful (KTMB) has 7 drop off locations available to the community from December 26 to January 7. This program keeps an estimated 10,000 trees a year out of the landfill and contributes to local beautification projects in Reno and Sparks. A $5 donation is suggested.
