2022 Nevada Recycles Poster Contest: Winners Announced!

In celebration of America Recycles Day on November 15th, all of Nevada’s K-12 students were invited to showcase their artistic talent and their commitment to sustainability by participating in the 2022 Nevada Recycles Poster Contest.

To help us spread the word on the importance of sustainability, students created posters around the theme “Refuse it or Reuse it” – highlighting the acts of source reduction and the reuse of everyday materials.

We received many great entries and want to thank everyone who participated in this year’s contest. Entries were judged based on originality, visual clarity, clear messaging, and adherence to the theme. The winners are:

K-2nd Grade 

1st Place: Dylan K., Las Vegas

3rd-5th Grade

1st Place: Madeline W., Las Vegas

2nd Place: Brooke A., Henderson

3rd Place: Claire C., Las Vegas

6th-8th Grade

1st Place: Shealyn T., Reno

2nd Place: Aerin W., Yerington

3rd Place: Makayla C., Dayton

9th-12th Grade

1st Place: Umi B., Pahrump

2nd Place: Callie T., Boulder City 

First place winners will be awarded a $25 gift card for themselves and a $100 gift card for their classroom as well as other fun, sustainable prizes. All finalists' works will be used in Nevada Recycles outreach for America Recycles Day and other sustainability campaigns. RTC North will display one poster at their transfer station in downtown Reno. Look for multiple winning posters on RTC Southern Nevada transit buses from November through the end of January. Winning posters are on display at the Carson City Library and all 20 poster submissions will be on display at the Discovery Children’s Museum in Las Vegas from mid-November into early December.
