Nevada Climate Forum
Important Announcement: The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) greatly appreciates the participation of the sustainability community of Nevada in the Partners for a Sustainable Nevada since 2022. NDEP is transitioning the management of the Partners for a Sustainable Nevada (PSN) to its members. When PSN was first established, NDEP aimed to bring together nonprofits, businesses, and government entities committed to advancing sustainability across the State. From the outset, NDEP envisioned that PSN would eventually become a self-sustaining, member-led initiative.
The PSN Climate Team, a focus group formed under PSN, plans to continue, separate from NDEP, as the Nevada Climate Team (NVCT). NVCT will continue as an informal collaborative group that shares information, networks and provides support to each other in doing our own climate work which helps mitigate and adapt to climate change. Additionally, the Nevada Climate Team will organize and present the Nevada Climate Forums going forward. For information on the Climate Team, email Brian Thornton, brian.thornton.nv@gmail.com. The Nevada Climate Team will not be continuing other aspects of the Partners for a Sustainable Nevada.
Welcome to the new Nevada Climate Forum! The Climate Team of Partners for a Sustainable Nevada (PSN) organized this forum as an online monthly gathering of climate and sustainability leaders in the state. The Forum will feature presentations and panel discussions on climate actions, challenges, updates, information, and solutions. Below you can register for each presentation you want to attend and you will receive a calendar invite and online event link.
The purposes of the forum are:
- Further participants' climate education
- Enhance awareness of the work being done in Nevada currently
- Allow speakers to receive input from the climate community
- Provide a venue for attendees to share relevant announcements
- Create a network of support to everyone working in the climate mitigation space
The focus of the forums is on solutions that help reduce Nevada’s net GHG emissions. The PSN Climate Team’s focus areas are 1) distributed generation such as community solar, 2) building electrification and efficiency, 3) renewable energy and electrification materials circular loop, 4) clean transportation and 5) land-use and planning to reduce climate pollution. We’ve arranged a schedule of presentations on these and other climate topics and related sustainability issues. For more information or to volunteer to present in future months, please contact Brian Thornton at brian.thornton.nv@gmail.com, PSN Climate Team Lead.
