Green Ambassador Program (GAP) Scholarship Application
Scholarships award up to $1,000 to high school seniors.
The Green Ambassador Program (GAP) was developed in collaboration with several key community partners from the private and public sector with a common goal and vision to increase recycling awareness. Partners include the Clark County School District, Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, Republic Services, and Western Elite.
Awarded scholarships are used by Clark County high school seniors towards a higher education experience of their choice.
Scholarship Criteria:
- Must be a Clark County School District Senior (Grade 12)
- Must complete the Green Ambassador Program (GAP) Scholarship application
- Submit a one page essay (see details below)
- Submit one letter of recommendation
- Submit official transcript
One-page essay instructions
For those involved in a school environmental club:
Please write a one page essay describing your environmental club. For example, what is your specific role in the club and how does your club benefit your school? What have you learned by being involved and how will this affect you and your recycling efforts from now on? Discuss the successes and challenges of your club. Discuss the challenges that you’ve faced and how they’ve become current successes. Keep in mind that these are only examples of the topics you can discuss about your club. You can discuss anything involving your environmental club.
For those that are NOT involved in a school environmental club:
Please write a one page essay describing your relationship with the environment. For example how have you impacted those around you with your recycling efforts? Do you influence your family and friends to reduce, reuse, and recycle? Perhaps you’re involved in a club/activity outside of school and you've participated in an event benefiting the environment. Do you have ideas about starting an environmental club at your school? How would this new club benefit your school and why is it necessary? Keep in mind that these are only examples of the topics you can discuss in your one page essay, feel free to discuss anything describing your relationship with the environment.
