Historical Background & Archive Files only— In March 2006 the State Environmental Commission (SEC) adopted amendments to the State's stationary source operating permits program, found in Chapter 445B of the Nevada Administrative Code. The regulatory changes create the Nevada Mercury Air Emissions Control Program; the new program requires mercury air emission controls at precious metal mining facilities, as an adjunct to the current operating permit to construct program. More specifically, the program applies to precious metals mining facilities that process mercury-containing ore and use thermal treatment processes that have the potential to liberate mercury into the atmosphere.
