HWAAP-E03
HAWTHORNE SEWAGE EVAPORATION PONDS
SITE DESCRIPTION
This is an active site, and therefore is not eligible for Installation Restoration Program funds. HWAAP-E03, an active STP, consists of three  oxidation-percolation-evaporation lagoons located on the HWAAP southeast of the 112 group. This STP is operated by the town of Hawthorne under a easement issued by the U.S. Army. The USGS, during their Phase II investigation, confirmed that contaminants have leaked from the ponds to the groundwater. The groundwater is approximately 90 feet below the surface. Groundwater monitoring wells were installed down gradient of the site.
PROPOSED PLAN
This site is considered Response Complete under the Installation Restoration Program, any current/ future action will be managed under the permit.
