Native American Culture Facilitators: Norma and Carnegie Smokey, Jr. (Washoe Tribe of Nevada), Andy Allen (Walker River Paiute Tribe), Marlin Thompson (Yerington Paiute Tribe)

Water resources play an important role in Native American cultures. At this station, Elders passed down tribal history with stories highlighting their peoples' reverence for water in tribal life, shared their art and the honor of basket weaving, and discussed impacts that have changed our local water bodies. Students gained an understanding of different cultural perspectives on the environment and how the environment, in turn, influences culture. Students were encouraged to explore their own responsibilities and ethics toward the environment.
