EcoMasters Educational Video Game

To acquire and modify accordingly to Las Vegas characteristics, an educational environmental video game. To distribute (gratis) the video game to Clark County School District.

Field Scale Utilization of the Shallow Saline Aquifer in Clark County, Nevada, as an Urban Irrigation Source
University of Nevada Biological Sciences

A project to investigate the use of a shallow saline aquifer as a supplement, but not as a sole source, for irrigating turf grass. This can be especially beneficial in growing areas where water supply is limited. This project is located in the Las Vegas area.

Henderson Landfill Response Program
City of Henderson

To identify the extent and characteristics of NPS pollution at the landfill, from ground water contribution; this project is a small part of a larger project.

Las Vegas Valley Water District Wellhead/Aquifer Protection
Las Vegas Valley Water District

To develop and implement an aquifer protection program to protect the public drinking water supply of Las Vegas Valley residents.

Muddy River Enhancement Project
Muddy River Regional Environmental Impact Alleviation Committee (MRREIAC)

To enhance existing habitat and stream conditions in the Muddy River through Moapa Valley; re-establish native vegetation, which improves habitat for endangered and threatened fish species, form a working coaltion to promote the use of best management practices, and create a centralized data system.

Source-Area Evaluation of Hydrophobic Synthetic Organo-Compounds
Clark County Regional Flood Control District

To sample the Las Vegas Wash and other tributaries for synthetic organo-compounds (organochlorines and semi-volatile industrial compounds) in surface water and bottom sediments.

Storm Drain "Plaque Attack" Project
Clark County Conservation District

To permanently label storm drains and provide public education on how to prevent or minimize NPS pollution.

Stormwater Quality Management Project
Clark County Conservation District

To implement a community based stormwater quality management program in Henderson, Nevada. The program includes the following components: public education and storm drain stenciling.

Urban Integrated Pest Mangement (IPM)
Clark County Conservation District

To teach residents to combat common pests using IPM. The project includes the creation of an IPM booklet and fact sheets; it can potentially educate (or reach through educational material distribution) over one million Las Vegas Valley residents.

Water Education Video
Clark County Conservation District

To produce a video which depicts the history of water in the Las Vegas Valley, the water cycle and the water use cycle. It will be presented to area schools, general public and interested organizations. It is part of a multi-media water education package coordinated by the UNLV Envionmental Studies Department.

Water Quality Education Video
Clark County Conservation District

To produce a water quality video and accompanying teacher's guide; topics will include: urban runoff, proper disposal of hazardous materials, source water protection, wetlands, channel erosion, etc.

Water Quality Resource Guide for Clark County
Clark County Conservation District

To create a booklet entitiled "Preserving our Water Resources", a guide for Southern Nevada Residents.

Wetland Park Pond Project
Clark County Conservation District

The objective is to construct wetlands ponds trails and educational kiosks to promote the importance of water quality and the benefits of wetlands. This project is located on the Las Vegas Wash.
