UIC Program - Remediation Projects

NEW - UIC General Permits for Remediation Projects are now available:

The Nevada UIC program has restructured the permitting requirements for injection wells found at ground water remediation sites to better meet the needs of the regulated community and to help streamline the permitting process. Below you will find a guidance document to help understand the new possible permitting options.

There are now 3 options for injection well permitting
  • Short-term General Permit GU07RS002 — less than 6 months
  • Long-term General Permit GU07RL001 — more than 6 months
  • Site-specific UNEV Permits —(historical way of permitting)

  • Note: Injection of ambient air into wells does not require an UIC permit.

The UIC Guidance for Remediation Projects explains the following:

  1. Types of UIC Permits for remediation projects
  2. How to apply for these permits
  3. Timeline on permit processing
  4. Permitting fees
  5. How to terminate one of these permits
  6. And more
