The access road to the Recology Landfill is an improved gravel road. The County is responsible for year-round road maintenance and snow removal during the winter months. There is no surface water located within one mile of the site and ground water is approximately 220 feet beneath ground surface at the site. Gas monitoring is performed at the site on a quarterly basis to allow for the detection of methane gas concentrations in excess of 25 percent of the lower explosive limit (LEL) in facility structures, or 100 percent of the LEL at the site boundary

The Recology Landfill is completely surrounded by publicly-owned land administered by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). All surrounding land is designated by the Lincoln County Planning Commission with an agricultural land-use classification.
