Free compact fluorescent light recycling offered

Greater Reno area
Customers of Waste Management can take defunct compact fluorescent lights, known as CFLs, to one of eight waste facilities in Northern Nevada for free recycling. The program put on by Waste Management and Sierra Pacific Power Co. offers an alternative to disposing CFLs in landfills given the small amount of mercury in each.

The following sites are accepting CFLs for recycling, links will take you to a map of each facility

Las Vegas area
Residential customers can take their spent CFLs to the Republic Services Recycling Center in North Las Vegas for free recycling. Businesses will be directed to Safety Clean for recycling of their CFLs. The program administered by Republic Services offers an alternative to disposing CFLs in the landfill.
