The NDEP and the U.S. EPA have teamed up to provide travel assistance for Public Water System security-related events in Nevada.
Travel Assistance - NvWARN Promotion & Member Participation:
Previous grant money from the U.S. EPA was used by the NDEP to assist in starting the NvWARN mutual aid program. The NDEP's current goal is to provide travel assistance for continued promotion of the program, to solicit potential members and for NvWARN Members to meet in person. The NDEP has the ability to provide travel reimbursement directly to travelers who will be reimbursed according to State travel policies and procedures. Funds will be available from June 1, 2008 through December 31, 2009, until depleted.
NvWARN has initiated the use of a web-based meeting environment to enhance participation in meetings by rural members. Upon initial membership and/or at various points in the year, the NDEP believes that it would also be beneficial for rural members to be able to attend a NvWARN meeting in person. Attendance in person will promote face-to-face coordination and help to build relationships among the membership. Meetings are typically held in Las Vegas and travel assistance to that location or a centralized location in northern Nevada with video-conference capabilities is intended.
