Ms. Runore C. Wycoff Director, Environmental Restoration Division U. S. Department of Energy Nevada Operations Office P. O. Box 98518 Las Vegas, NV 89193-8518 Re: Establishment of UGTA Project Deadlines Corrective Action Unit (CAU) 101/102, Central/Western Pahute Mesa Federal Facility Agreement and Consent Order Dear Ms. Wycoff: The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) approved the National Nuclear Security Administration Nevada Operations Office's (NNSA/NV's) April 10, 2001 request to recant the Central/Western, CAU 101/102 Pahute Mesa Corrective Action Investigation Plan (CAIP) Addendum Deadline in a letter dated June 25, 2001. The NDEP deleted the July 31, 2001 CAU 101/102 CAIP Addendum Deadline from the Federal Facility Agreement and Consent Order (FFACO) as a consequence of the acceptance of the revised UGTA Strategy. As discussed in our June 25, 2001 letter, NDEP staff members have reviewed the tasks outlined in the Underground Test Area (UGTA) Life-Cycle Baseline and the UGTA Project strategy in order to assign appropriate project Deadlines for CAU 101/102, Central/Western Pahute Mesa. These Deadlines were selected in order to ensure that all activities leading up to and including completion of these phases of the UGTA Project, within the FY+2 time period, are completed as scheduled in the Baseline. In accordance with the June 25, 2001 letter, the following Deadlines for CAU 101/102 will be finalized through the FFACO process on August 12, 2001:
If you have any comments or concerns with the establishment of these Deadlines for CAU 101/102, Central/ Western Pahute Mesa, please direct them to the undersigned on or before August 12, 2001. Questions or comments may be directed to Matthew A. DeBurle at (775) 687-4670, extension 3031, Eric Noack at extension 3032, or myself at extension 3039. PJL/KKB/REN/MAD/js cc: M.
