U.S. Department of Energy site map of the Nevada Test Site (NTS): The NTS was used as a testing area for nuclear weapons; testing began in the early 1950's and was not concluded until September 1992. There were more than 900 nuclear tests conducted at the site. NTS is located about 65 miles north west of Las Vegas, Nevada.
U.S. Department of Energy site map of the Central Nevada Test Site (CNTA): The CNTA is located in the north-central part of Hot Creek Valley in south-central Nevada. The site was obtained by the Atomic Energy Commission for the purposed of developing potential alternative sites for underground nuclear testing. Although several large emplacement holes were drilled at the site, Project Faultless was the only nuclear devise detonated. Faultless was exploded on January 19, 1968 at a depth of 3,200 feet. The shot produced a yield of approximately 1 megaton.

Its purposed was to study the effects of different geological media on seismic waves. The site is located in Churchill County near Fallon Nevada. The device was denoted On October 26, 1963 at a depth of 1,205 beneath the ground. The shot produced a rubblfilled chimney 170ft in diameter and 460ft high.
