• July 30, 2002 -- Letter from Paul Liebendorfer to Frank Di Sanza, DOE/Nevada -- The letter is in reference to the disposal of radioactive waste at the NTS; the waste was potentially considered a mixed waste. The waste was shipped from DOE's Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant and was dispose of at NTS in the Area 5 waste disposal facility.

The SA was prepared to determine whether the environmental impacts of DOE operations at the Nevada Test Site (and offsite locations), as identified today, would be within the limits of impacts identified in DOE's 1996 (EIS).  

• May 28, 2002 -- Letter to Mr. Frank Di Sanza, National Nuclear Security Administration from Paul Liebendorfer, NDEP -- The letter conveys the State of Nevada's comments on DOE/NV's -- Federal Facility Compliance Act Site Treatment Plan 2002 Annual Update. • April 25, 2001 -- Response letter from Governor Kenny Guinn to Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham. The Governor's letter reiterates the State's concern about the level of funding needed to investigate groundwater contamination beneath the Nevada Test Site (NTS).  As requested, the letter also designates three Nevada officials to work with DOE on Environmental Management (cleanup) issues involving the NTS and other nuclear weapons sites.  The Governors letter was written in response to a letter sent by the Secretary on April 4, 2001.

• February 23, 2001 -- Letter from Paul Liebendorfer to Jhon Carilli, RCRA Program Manager, DOE/Nevada.  The letter communicates the State's initial comments on the U.S. Department of Energy's Part B Permit Application for a Mixed Waste Disposal Unit at the Area 5 Radioactive Waste Management Site at the NTS (Nevada Test Site).

•  May 18, 1998 -- State of Nevada Comments on the U.S. Department of Energy Notice of Intent to Conduct Policy Analysis for the Disposal of Low- Level Radioactive Waste (LLW) and Mixed Low-Level Radioactive Waste (MLLW) at Commercial Facilities)

•  May 30, 1998 -- Letter from from Paul Liebendorfer to Gerald Johnson, Manager Nevada Operations Office Department of Energy (The letter expressed concerns about notifying the State about a potential proposal to use the Nevada Test Site and/or the Tonopah Test Range as a treatment site for 3.3 million gallons of Napalm currently in storage at a Naval facility in Fallbrook CA.)

•  June 2, 1998 -- Letter from Paul Liebendorfer to Michelle R. Rehmann, International Uranium Corporation (IUC). (The letter supports IUC's ongoing effort to assess the potential economic benefits of recycling Silo 3 materials store at DOE's Fernald Site in Ohio. DOE's current plan calls for onsite treatment and off-site disposal at the Nevada Test Site. )

•  June 8, 1998 -- Letter from Paul Liebendorfer to Gerald Johnson, Manager - U.S. Department of Energy Nevada Operations Office (The State's letter suggests that DOE's national and site specific cleanup plans for the NTS are delinquent in meeting DOE's responsibility to address cleanup of all contaminated sites on the NTS (i.e., selected industrial sites and contaminated facilities). The letter takes issue with DOE Defense Program (DP) suggesting that DP is either unable or unmotivated to prioritize cleanup activities that are under DP's jurisdiction at the NTS).

•  June 30, 1998 -- Letter to Governor Bob Miller from Energy Secretary Pena. The Secretary's letter provides a brief update and summary of activities initiated to address the leaking box incidents involving shipments of low-level radioactive waste between Fernald, Ohio and the Nevada Test Site. The incidents occurred in December 1997

•  July 9, 1998 -- Letter to Paul Liebendorfer, Bureau of Federal Facilities form G.W. Johnson, Manager DOE Nevada Operations Office.
