October 2005 — Rregulation modifying certain fees was approved. This regulation amends the Nevada Administrative Code (NAC) 519A mining reclamation. Changes include a revision to the current fee structure for a permit modification and the definition of minor permit modifications. The revision also defines a major modification. The revision to the current fee structure will reduce the fees charged for simple changes to the permit that require minimal staff time to review and process. The other revisions set clearer parameters to define minor and major modification.
April 2005 — NDEP Forms Gold Quarry Slide Oversight Panel — Due to the magnitude of the failure of the waste rock dump at Gold Quarry and its potential implications, a panel was recently formed by the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) to oversee the investigation and the remedial actions being performed by Newmont. Accordingly, NDEP has created a special webpage for posting documents and otherwise keeping interested persons informed of the progress of the investigation.
