Truckee River Response Plan

River Response Plans provides guidance to response personnel to more effectively deploy personnel and equipment, and delineate the responsibilities of all agencies (local, state and federal) in the event of a hazardous materials incident within the river response area.

Objectives of the River Response Plan are:

    Describing the overall emergency response organization for hazardous materials incidents occurring within the Truckee River;
    Establishing a prompt and efficient notification system that ensuring the appropriate local, state and federal response agencies are informed of oil spills and chemical releases impacting the river;
    Identifying river response strategies in advance;
    Establishing lines of authority, coordination and notification for hazardous materials incidents and facilitate mutual aid to supplement local resources, and
    Describing procedures for accessing outside funding (e.g., state and federal funding) for the mitigation of, and recovery from, hazardous materials incidents.
The Truckee River Response Plan was finalized in October 2003.
