The Administrator, Division of Environmental Protection, Carson City, Nevada is issuing the following notice of proposed action under Chapter 459 of the Nevada Revised Statutes. The Administrator has received a complete remedial agreement under the Voluntary Cleanup Program for the former Dodd/Beals fire fighting academy in Stead, Nevada from the following applicant:

The former Dodd/Beals Fire Fighting Academy is located on 77 acres of land donated to the University of Nevada, Reno by the Stead Air Force Base and was operated from the early seventies until the mid-nineties. The site is located at the intersection of Military Road and Echo Avenue. Of the 77 acres, approximately 42 acres were used for administrative buildings and fire fighting training with the remaining property being undeveloped. The remedial agreement addresses a plan of cleanup for soils and groundwater contaminated with petroleum hydrocarbons which were associated with fire fighting training activities. The remedial agreement is available for viewing by the public on-line at http://ndep.nv.gov/bca/dbealindex.htm.
