The Administrator has received an application for an Underground Injection Control (UIC) permit (UNEV99207) from CHEVRON PRODUCTS COMPANY, P.O. BOX 6004, SAN RAMON, CA, 94583

The applicant has submitted a remediation plan in response to a release of petroleum hydrocarbon contamination from the former Chevron Station #9-8316, located at 801 Avenue F, Ely, Nevada 89301. The applicant proposes to remediate the contaminated groundwater utilizing the injection of chemical additives into six injection wells. The process is expected to chemically treat contaminated groundwater. Monitoring will be required to ensure that groundwater is not degraded.

State Environmental Commission

The Nevada State Environmental Commission will hold an emergency public hearing beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 18, 2000, by teleconference.  The purpose of this hearing is for the Environmental Commission to review and renew the air quality opacity variance of the Southern California Edison Mohave power plant in Laughlin, Nevada.

Notice -- The State Environmental Commission will hold a public hearing to consider proposed revisions to water quality standards for walker river and walker lake. The hearing will be held on December 5, 2000 at 10:30 am at Casino West (11 North Main StreetYerington, Nevada).

The Administrator has received complete applications for renewal of two water pollution control discharge permits from CLARK COUNTY SANITATION DISTRICT, 5857 East Flamingo Road, Las Vegas, Nevada 89122

The permittee operates the Blue Diamond Wastewater Treatment facility which serves the town of Blue Diamond and the James Hardy Gypsum Property, located 1.5 miles east of the town of Blue Diamond, approaximately 19 miles southwest of Las Vegas, in Clark County, Nevada. The proposed permit is for disposal of treated effluent from a lagoon system which utilizes evaporation/percolation for disposal. Groundwater monitoring is required to determine if any adverse effects are detected in the groundwater of the area. The permit will cover a period of five (5) years.

The permittee operates the Searchlight Wastewater Treatment facility which serves the town of Searchlight, located approximately .75 miles southeast of town, east of Highway 95, in Clark County, Nevada. The proposed permit is for disposal of treated effluent from a lagoon system which utilizes evaporation/percolation for disposal. The permit will cover a period of five (5) years.

The Administrator has received a complete application for a water pollution control discharge permit (Permit #NEV2000506) from BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT (BLM), U.S.D.I., 50 BASTIAN ROAD, BATTLE MOUNTAIN, NEVADA 89820

The applicant operates an air attack base facility for fire fighting operations in Nevada and the Great Basin. The applicant proposes to discharge a wastestream consisting of spilled fire retardant, wash down wastewater and precipitation from the aircraft parking apron. Any oil lost from the planes will be cleaned up with absorbent materials before any wash down of the apron occurs. The wastestream will be discharged to a lined evaporation/containment pond for evaporation during the fire season only. No wastestream will be discharged to the pond during the off fire season. The permit will be issued for a five (5) year period.

The Administrator has received a complete application for a new water pollution control discharge permit (Permit NEV2000508) from VBL ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES, INC, P.O. BOX 187, PAHRUMP, NEVADA 89041.

The applicant proposes to land apply biosolids generated by Central Nevada Utilities and domestic septage for beneficial reuse to agricultural land on the Hafen Ranch, located in Pahrump, Nevada. The permit will be issued for a five (5) year period.
