The purpose of the Solid Waste Management Branch is stated in a declaration of state policy in the Nevada Revised Statutes: NRS 444.440. In general the policy states that Nevada will protect public health and welfare, prevent water or air pollution, prevent the spread of disease and the creation of nuisances, conserve natural resources, and enhance the beauty and quality of the environment.
