• July 30, 2002 -- Letter from Paul Liebendorfer to Frank Di Sanza, DOE/Nevada -- The letter is in reference to the disposal of radioactive waste at the NTS; the waste was potentially considered a mixed waste. The waste was shipped from DOE's Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant and was dispose of at NTS in the Area 5 waste disposal facility.

• July 10, 2001 -- Letter from Paul Liebendorfer to Frank Di Sanza, Environmental Management, National Nuclear Security Administration.  The letter presents NDEP scoping comments on a U.S. Air Force and Department of Energy Joint Environmental Assessment for Removal and Storage of Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generators.

• April 25, 2001 -- Response letter from Governor Kenny Guinn to Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham. The Governor's letter reiterates the State's concern about the level of funding needed to investigate groundwater contamination beneath the Nevada Test Site (NTS).  As requested, the letter also designates three Nevada officials to work with DOE on Environmental Management (cleanup) issues involving the NTS and other nuclear weapons sites.  The Governors letter was written in response to a letter sent by the Secretary on April 4, 2001.

• February 23, 2001 -- Letter from Paul Liebendorfer to Jhon Carilli, RCRA Program Manager, DOE/Nevada.  The letter communicates the State's initial comments on the U.S. Department of Energy's Part B Permit Application for a Mixed Waste Disposal Unit at the Area 5 Radioactive Waste Management Site at the NTS (Nevada Test Site).(Related Correspondence - Letter from Robert Loux [NWPO] to Kathleen Carlson NNSA/NV)

• January 25, 2001 -- Letter from Paul Liebendorfer to Carl Gertz, Environmental Restoration Division U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Nevada Operations Office -- The letters address the State concerns about disposal of low level waste at NTS shipped from the the West Valley Demonstration Project in New York State.  The States contends the waste in commercial in origin and thus not eligible for disposal in a defense LLW facility.

• January 16, 2001 -- Letter from Paul Liebendorfer to Ms. Runore C. Wycoff, Director Environmental Restoration Division U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Nevada Operations Office -- The letter approves (with comment) DOE's Corrective Action Investigation Plan, Revision 0 for CAU 97, Yucca Flat/Climax mine, as per the Federal Facility Agreement and Consent Order (FFACO)

• January 2001 -- LTS/NGA Website: Working with the National Governor's Association and other states, NDEP has developed a special purpose website that focuses on state involvement in the U.S. Department of Energy's Long-Term Stewardship (LTS) program for the nuclear weapons complex.  Primary users of the site include members of the National Governors' Association (NGA) Federal Facilities Task Force; governor's staff; state environmental officials; consultants; members of DOE sponsored federal advisory boards; and others involved in policy development and regulatory oversight of DOE contaminated media and infrastructure. The NGA Federal Facilities Task Force has formed an LTS committee; committee members and others are using the website to share LTS information.

• September 6, 2000 -- Public Notice:  The United States Department of Energy, Nevada Operations Office (DOE/NV) has submitted to the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) a Closure Plan (CLOSURE PLAN FOR CORRECTIVE ACTION UNIT 110: U-3AX/BL DISPOSAL UNIT, NEVADA TEST SITE, NEVADA) in August 2000 pursuant to the requirements of their Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Permit #HW009, Subpart G & K of Part 265 of the Code of Federal Regulations (40 CFR 265) and Nevada Administrative Code (NAC) 445A.227, for the closure of the U-3ax/bl Disposal Unit in Area 3 of the Nevada Test Site (NTS).

• September 6, 2000 -- Public Notice:  The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) is requesting public comment upon the DRAFT PERMIT for a non-radioactive hazardous waste storage unit and a nonradioactive explosive ordnance disposal unit owned by the United States Department of Energy.  The facilities are located on the Nevada Test Site approximately 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada.

• August 1, 2000 -- Letter from Paul Liebendorfer to Ms. Runore C.
