Welcome to the Bureau of Air Quality Planning
It is the mission of the Bureau of Air Quality Planning (BAQP) to protect and enhance the environment in order to sustain healthy ecosystems and constribute to a vibrant economy. Our mission is accomplished through reasonable, fair, and consistent implementation of State and Federal air quality rules and regulations, with emphasis on objective and impartial responsiveness to the needs of a growing population and industrial base.
The authority to implement air pollution control requirements has been established in Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) 445B.100 through 445B.825, inclusive, and NRS 486A.010 through 486A.180, inclusive.
Washoe and Clark counties administer air quality programs within each of their perspective juridictions. Please note CAPP is regulated by the BAQP throughout Nevada.
Visit our sister agency, the Bureau of Air Pollution Control (BAPC) to obtain information regarding air quality permits for emission units, surface area disturbance permits, regulatory requirements for fossil-fuel fired steam electric plants, and emissions auditing.
What's New
There has been some Program re-structuring at the Bureau of Air Quality Planning (BAQP). The Chemical Accident Prevention Program (CAPP) and the Nevada Mercury Control Program (NMCP) have moved from the Bureau of Air Pollution Control to BAQP. The Program themselves have not changed, and the Bureaus of Air Quality Planning and Air Pollution Control continue to work closely together.
The Nevada Mercury Control Program (NMCP) website is all new, with all new content. The new content includes all the Questionnaires and applications submitted by industry, all historic and current stack test reports, stack tests summary, NvMACT proposals, and more. Public notice events, designations and issued permits will be posted as they are processed.
